Welcome to King of the Ride podcast, hosted by Ted King. A professional road cyclist turned gravel racer... err, rider? I still have that competitive bug now 20 years into my professional racing career, but poking around the overarching cycling community is what piques my interest. Slinging maple syrup (hello UnTapped!), leading rides, hosting camps, and just enjoying life on two wheels, I have the chance to chat with athletes, entrepreneurs, and all walks of life who love the bicycle. Hop on board and enjoy the ride!

I don’t know whether to say thank you to Michael... or to say congratulations... or to apologize, because Michael, at 24 years old I think brings home the title as youngest guest ever on King or the Ride podcast. He’s packed plenty of life into those 24 years, as you’re going to hear about today. He’s had an illustrious road career including national championship titles won. More to the point, he represents the new breed of what it means to be an American bike racer. He’s very handy in a gravel race having just taken 2nd at the US national championships, he’s crafty on a mountain bike, and he’s a force in the US crit scene.
Sit back and enjoy this one with Michael Garrison.

I listen to a lot of podcasts and this is one of the best I have ever heard. Thanks so very much to Michael Garrison and Ted for being willing to open up about their personal losses and how this has affected them as cyclists and as men! Michael actually shared about talking with his deceased father during the darkest time during a gravel race. This actually brought me to tears! This spiritual element is part of cycling for some of us, but it never gets talked about. Amazing podcast!
